Register to vote
The last day you may register or update your registration to vote in the November 8th, 2011 general election is Tuesday, October 11th.You may already be registered. To check, visit the Statewide Voter Registration System website or call Allen County Voter Registration at 449-7154.
If you are not registered, you can register by following these steps:
- Download the voter Registration form: VRG-7: Voter Registration or VRG7p: Voter Registration (Spanish Language Version)
- Print out the Voter Registration form, complete, sign and return to the Allen Co. Voter Registration Office, 1 W. Superior St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802.

You can also Register online if you have been issued an IN Drivers License or IN State ID:
Visit www.indianavoters.com to register online until Midnight the day of Voter Registration deadline.

Early voting
Indiana’s election laws allow any registered voter to cast their ballot in person prior to general election day. The earliest you can cast a ballot is Monday, October 10th.Voters must be a registered voter and have one of the following: a valid Driver’s License, State Issued photo ID, or Military ID. Voting location is at the Allen County Election Board, located at 1 W. Superior St.
Early voting for Allen County voters begins October 10th and runs through noon November 7th at the Allen County Election Board, located at 1 W. Superior St.

Absentee ballot
Anyone registered to vote in Fort Wayne who is unable to vote at their precinct on Election Day due to any of the following reasons qualifies to vote absentee:- Voter expects to be absent from the county on election day
- The voter is confined or is caring for a confined person or is unable to go to the voting place due to illness, injury, or disability
- The voter is at least 65 years of age
- The voter is an absent uniformed services voter or an overseas voter
- The voter expects to have official election duties outside his or her voting precinct
- The voter is scheduled to work at his or her place of employment during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
Here’s how the absentee ballot process works:
- You must request an “absentee ballot application” at any time. You can call Democratic Party Headquarters at (260) 478-8239 or the Allen County Election Board at (260) 449-7329 to request an absentee ballot application. Or you can download the application from the State of Indiana Website. Allow sufficient time to receive and complete Application. Completed form MUST be in the Election Board office no later than midnight October 31st to get an application by mail.
- You may submit your completed application at any time until midnight October 31st—it can be mailed in time to be delivered by October 31st, it can delivered in person until 4:30pm in Election Board office or it can be faxed no later than midnight. Please be sure your application is SIGNED and your PHONE NUMBER is included.
- If you are a registered voter at that address an absentee ballot will be mailed to you. The initial mailing of ballots will be mailed no later than September 24th and then daily thereafter.
- Complete and mail or hand deliver your ballot to the Allen County Election Board, 1 W. Superior St. They must be at the Election Board no later than noon, Monday, November 7th. Please remember to SIGN your ballot envelope. Ballots arriving after November 7th, even with a prior postmark, are not valid.

PLEASE NOTE: If an absentee ballot is mailed to you, your name will be printed in the pollbook as having cast a ballot. You will not be allowed to vote at the voting machine in the polling location unless you take the voided ballot (just write VOID on envelope) with you to your polling location or you obtain a certificate from the election board stating that you lost or returned the ballot to them without voting it. The ballot or the certificate must be presented at the polls in order to vote on the voting machine once you have requested an absentee ballot
